Mt. Batulao : the mirror of life

Mt. Batulao : the mirror of life

November is coming and everybody is getting ready for a long weekend, a lot of people are going to their respective provinces here and there to celebrate all saint's and soul's day. But me and my love team did set an outdoor fun for the coming weekend , we've decided to do it in Tagaytay, we've set up a simple camping trip where we can talk, stroll, have a food trip, and even attend a mass, for we all know that Tagaytay is a solemn place good for both relaxation of the mind & body and spiritual aspect as well. As the week approaches its end, our itinerary has diverted - we've decided to go mountain climbing in Nasugbu, Batangas -Mt. Batulao.

Mt. Batulao is just several kms. away from Tagaytay town proper. From Olivarez Tagaytay, you have to ride a jeepney going Nasugbu, get ready when you saw the Lemery junction and/or the San Miguel Corp., prepare to say "PARA!" when you saw the EVERCREST gate at the left side.

From the Evercrest gate, you'll need to walk for about 2kms. to reach the mountain's foot or, you can ride a tricycle from Evercrest, you can also choose which way you want to pass, the shortcut or the long trail way.

To be able to conserve our energy :) we've decided to ride a tricycle and choose the shortcut way (i feel like we're cheaters :-P). So we reached the foot of the mountain and started walking at around 130pm. We've passed the residential area (i'm so happy, i feel like i'm healthy & strong, walking is soooo fun!), we reached the starting point of trail at around 2-230pm (we got lost too :) ).

At first of course, you can't thought of nothing but sight seeing, especially if you love nature. As the trail starts, you'll see different faces, reactions, personalities, emotions and situations, like what we saw...
we saw a girl & a boy arguing, they are both in bad mood while in the trail, others do the STATION of the KUBO ;).
As we go by, we encountered many faces, they'll greet you: "good morning ma'm/sir!", "take care", "be careful", "good afternoon", at first you still have strength to greet them too, but as you go by and feeling exhausted... you'll just bow down or smile at them to conserve energy, i remember my love team said : "looks like we're in an office huh?! ;) "

There's always been a reason for everything, during our climb seeing those faces was a good thing, aside from entertainment. At peak 2, I feel exhausted (yeah! as early as that), I know my love team too 'coz his load is 5x heavier than mine, so he's walking fastly that I couldn't see him anymore, I am left behind feeling exhausted :( ... I felt a sudden gush of blood that urged me to stop for a while to catch my breath  but I just couldn't stop because of those people behind pressuring and pushing me. I tried to lean onto the grass to let those people pass over me but I fell down (i feel ashamed, but it's ok i should proceed! let's go!). I pushed my self through until (AT LAST!!!!!!!)  I saw my love team again. I told him to:

" slow down & be like a turtle who enjoys every single detail around him & go slowly but surely, rather than being a rabbit who who usually left everything behind, who goes fastly but risky."

Instead of getting mad at him for leaving me behind, I remember the girl & boy I mentioned earlier, arguing along the trail. Arguing in that kind of area and situation isn't helpful.

So, a long walk was made & we've reached peak 8 at around 3-330pm. There's already a camp site there but we've decided to move again and find another location to camp-in.

Oh! I almost forgot to tell, we saw a group of people teasing us, saying: "ma'am! sir! you've arrived!?! ahahaahahha!"

What the...?!??? tsk! tsk! what are they expecting?!? we're very strong don't they know it?!??? ;-P

Anyway, before reaching peak 9 &10, we have to decide which way we will pass between the 35degree slope with a side cliff or at the top where in both sides are cliff & is moderately windy. My love team prefers the side slope for my safety, but then I took a quick peek on either way, and told him: "I prefer to go at the top, it's much safer there for me especially if I crawl down, I will be able to use my knees and hands which can fully support my body."

Summit drinking water ;)
Virgin Mary at the summit
And that way we go. We've reached the summit at around 430pm. We even met some people at the top and do some picture taking moments with them (I wonder where are our pictures with them...hmmm). Still searching for a place o settle at 5pm, it's too windy at the summit so we've decided to climb down on the other side of the mountain, I had to do rappelling to reach the other side (i think you should tie around the rope into you waist and climb down, it's much safer, 'coz the wind will swing you from side to side).

my love team told me: " You just didn't know how to do rappelling"...
me : *no comment... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz :)

way to go rappelling
At 5pm we already have a place but we can't set up our tent, unfortunately, someone borrowed the tent we had at that moment and that person forgot to include the pole into the package. We also forgot to check things like that before we leave...poor thing!

I wanted to cry at that moment but I just can't, no one wants it to happen. Instead of crying, I choose  to pray and smile at my love team because i knew he too were exhausted. Anyway, at 7pm we're eating already, at 730pm picking up scattered things, by 830pm we've decided to sat down, look around, talk about things that are happening inside and out our circle until we lied down on our backs,

took a sleep for awhile, woke up at 330am, looked around again at 4am, cooked at 5am, ate at 530am, fixed at 6am. At 630am we started to hike down the old trail, so easy, that you'll look for the thrill you've gone through the new trail on the other side of the mountain.

At 732am we saw nipa hut  and took some rest. We took the long way and walked for several hours, still we haven't reached even just half of the way going Evercrest gate. Luckily, a truck pass by and let us took a ride with them going Evercrest, we were home at 332pm because of them ;)...

luscious green surrounding of Mt. Batulao

After the long walk, crazy crawls, twisted rappels, everything?! we surely needed a loooong day rest, and sleep and rest and sleep and rest... ;)

Anyway, always have the guts, and conquer every fear to finish every trail you have.
Always have the person you treasure the most in every hard track you have to gain strength and boost you power, endurance and faith.

Like I said earlier, arguing is not helpful in situations like this, always remember that not all the time arguing or a debate is needed, sometimes silence is much better, and  just give a smile at the end instead. Have in your mind always, that you need your 'buddy' like how you need your own 'body.'

And, do some research about your target place, condition & prepare your self, check every single gadget/things that'll help you in case of any possibilities and probabilities. If possible, have a checklist and prepare a week before ;) ...

splendid!

Thanks for those climbers we've met during our climb!
Thanks to that truck (by meralco) who took us into Evercrest gate!
Thanks to our neighboring tent who offer nothing to us!
Most of all,

Thanks Jah for taking care of us all the way.

Always look for Jah bless to finish each trail safely.

Jah creation!
Enjoy! Thanks!
